Simple, yes, absolutely.

There is nothing that says you need to hire a company like NLBS Electrical Services to undertake your PAT testing. You don't even need to PAT test.

The reason many people and businesses complete PAT testing, is because there is a legal requirement to make sure any electrical equipment provided by you or your business, is safe to use. One of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to demonstrate that is through PAT testing.

Again, whilst you can do it yourself, there are a couple of things you should consider.

First of all, you will need to be a competent, which is a mixture of qualifications and experience. And let's face it, that makes sense because if you are testing, you need to know what you are testing for and what you would expect the results to be.

Secondly, you will need a PAT tester and one that is calibrated, to make sure the test results you see are accurate.

Thirdly, you will need to be able to interpret the test results. Whilst many PAT testers show a 'PASS' or 'FAIL', sometimes the label pass and fail aren't really passes and fails. Sometimes the wrong test method is used and on other occasions, a little maintenance will take an item from a pass to a fail, kettles being a prime example.

That said, if you would prefer a hassle free service, you can use a dedicated PAT testing and electrical maintenance company, such as NLBS Electrical Services, to fulfil all your PAT testing needs.
